MOVE @ LA Food Bank!

Join MOVE at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank!

We will be assembling food packages for over 23,000 low income seniors, women with infants, and children in Los Angeles County. The food packages consist of food items like canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, cereal and other non-perishable food items.

Laurie Bailon from Spark will be talking to us about Spark’s mentoring program for Spring 2012. Spark’s mission is to provide life-changing apprenticeships to youth in underserved communities across the United States.

Puppy Petting Zoo

Pet a Pup for Life (Volunteer Opportunity too!)

Do you love puppies for all their cuteness and joy they bring? Join USC Net Impact and MOVE at “Pet a Pup for Life” on Wednesday, October 5th from 12-2 PM.

We will be providing an adorable puppy petting zoo at Alumni Park, where all puppy lovers can come and play with the world’s cutest animals! We will be accepting donations that will go towards Heifer International, which serves impoverished families across the globe by providing them with farm animals and supplies so they can acquire a steady source of both food and income.

MCSD 2011

Join a MOVE Committee or apply for MOVE Leadership Position!

Join a committee so you will have the opportunity to not only help work on the committee’s respective tasks, but also to help plan and organize Marshall Community Service Day in the spring. This is a great opportunity to get involved with MOVE and gain valuable leadership experience!

The committees are:

  • Fundraising/Finance
  • Assists with event and semester budget and expenses, along with implementing fundraising ideas & initiatives for the organization and for event.

  • Marketing/PR
  • Assist the marketing team to expose yourself with flier design, effective marketing outlets, including social media, etc.

  • Professional Relations
  • Assist in planning professional events (professional speakers, workshops, panels, etc.) throughout the academic year that encompasses MOVE’s vision.

  • MCSD Events
  • Assist in planning community service events for Marshall Community Service Day to allow MOVE members to interact with and learn more about the local community while giving back.

  • Community Service Events
  • Assist in planning community service events throughout the year (both on and off campus).

  • Operations
  • Assist in planning the logistics and learning the intricacies of event planning following university rules, regulations, and guidelines; chance to work with all departments cross-functionally.

If you are also interested, you can apply to become part of the MOVE Leadership Team. Our vacant positions and a few of their main responsibilities are:

  • Director of Community Events
  • 1. Plan all community service events throughout the academic year to allow MOVE members to interact with and learn more about the local community while giving back.
    2. Develop and maintain relationships with local non-profit organizations.
    3. Compile a directory of all service sites we work with.

  • Director of Technology (Webmaster)
  • 1. Manage the organization’s website, including updating and showcasing upcoming events and opportunities.
    2. Assist the rest of the Communications team (Marketing and Human Resources) with marketing via the online community.
